Stages of Commercial Flooring Preparation
Removal of Your Existing Materials
It’s not always necessary; but, it is often beneficial to the longevity of your new floor. We carefully and completely lift any current materials that will decrease the quality of your new flooring. This typically involves the following actions:
- Systematic deconstruction of your existing top-layer floor or “floor covering”
- Use of the right tools to lift the entire floor covering
- Assessment of your second-layer underlayment to determine its usability
- Gentle lifting of a compromised underlayment from your subfloor without damaging that third layer
Cleaning of Your Subfloor or Base Surface
This is often disregarded in the commercial flooring industry. That never happens with Division 09. We know that your new flooring material can only be securely installed if your subfloor is in the right condition. This typically involves the following actions:
- Glue-residue grinding to eliminate all leftover glues or adhesives
- Clearing of hard residue from your existing floor covering without damaging the subfloor
- Elimination of exposed nails or staples from your existing floor covering
- Inspection of your subfloor for any fixed sharp objects that will harm your new flooring material
- Assurance that your subfloor has absolutely no moisture or alkalinity
- Use of the proper equipment remove all moisture or alkalinity that may ruin your new floor
